I know I am flooding the brainstorming forum with ideas that go nowhere. I'm sorry, but... not really?

In any case, why don't I just talk about the game instead? (:

TITLE: ANATHEMA
GENRE: HIGH FANTASY ; ACTION / ADVENTURE
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCE
RATING: GENERAL

1. This is not a remake of the game by the same name! I just like to recycle titles of games that go nowhere? Ha...

2. The story is relatively simple (no flash, no pizzazz). The world of Terra is in grave danger! Monsters known as Exiles have, once again, found a way to enter the living world. Their numbers are few, but their powers are great and, in a few short months, they have taken over the capital of the human kingdom, Kirin. Their mission is to undo the Thirteen Seals and release their brothers and sisters from the Netherworld.

3. The plot is, perhaps, even more straight-forward: a group of strangers, summoned by the Watchers (guardians of Terra), will band together in an attempt to prevent the undoing of the Thirteen Seals. We will play as members of this group.

4. There is magic in this world. I apologize in advance if what I'm about to say is confusing. Please do not hesitate to ask for clarifications. Magic in this game is based on Final Fantasy character classes and Fairy Tail. If you are unfamiliar with either, please click the links! Additionally, magic in Terra is not necessarily commonplace (only twenty-percent of the world population has access to magic).

5. There are no character slots; you will have the freedom to design your character from the ground up. Having said that, there will be an application process to screen character ideas and I reserve the right to reject characters deemed incompatible with the game.

6. I plan to release the game later in the summer (most likely late-July).


Please understand that there is greater depth to the story and the world than what I am listing here. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to make them known. I am more than happy to answer/respond.

I'm curious as to how you can mix Fairy Tail and Final Fantasy's magic together... I'm not super aware of Fairy Tail's magic, so I might be missing a really obvious thing right now, but I feel that since there's bound to be people like me who don't know the anime (or worse, people who don't know about FF) it might be good to have some kind of explanation in more detail. I did check out the links have you've suggested, but based on what I've seen alone I'm still not 100% sure how it'd work out...

I guess it'd be better if I ask less general questions;

1. Will there be Caster Holder Ancient and Lost magic like in fairy tail?
2. Will there be spells which are roughly the same but on different level like in final fantasy (ex: fire, fira, firaga)
3. Which of the two will be the main influence? FF or FT?

Sorry for the late reply, but I got home late last night and didn't have the energy to answer any questions, lol. D;


@ ALEX : I have a confession to make: I'm not entirely too familiar with Fairy Tail, lol. I know enough to know what I want, but not enough to answer any detailed questions about the series's nuances, lol. When I say that the world's magic is a unique combination of the two worlds, it might have been better to say that I am using the Final Fantasy character classes (e.g. Dragon Knights, Black Mages, etc) and the magic-style of Fairy Tail (e.g. Solid Script, Sword Magic, etc).

1. There will be similar abilities to ones you would see in the listed categories, but the abilities will be rebranded. And, as with most games, I have every intention of curtailing over-powered/unfair abilities. (:

3. In terms of influence, it's difficult to say because I'm not using the same or comparable aspects from both universes. Having said that, I am only using a limited pool of abilities from Fairy Tail. I intend to draw far more material from the Final Fantasy franchise.

In relations to the game, I want to talk a little more about abilities/characters. In the beginning, I considered the allowance for free-form characters (i.e. characters you build from the ground up with no restrictive limits), but I think it might be less hectic if I provide a list of approved (rebranded) classes/abilities.

Some things worth remembering:

1. The Prince of Kirin is looking for individuals willing to brave all types of dangers to aid him in recovering his home. He is recruiting brave souls at a famous and popular guild, the House of Blades, which is an adventurer/mercenary guild. Word of his recruitment has spread and people close and far have heard rumors of this rebellion effort.

2. In the world of Terra, there are three major races: humans, elves, and demons. Each race has an illustrious and descriptive culture. For reference, please click here.

I don't know about Joon, but I'm not very fond of hybrids. Both of the races strength without either's weaknesses sounds OP to me. Unless both weaknesses and powers are doubled, or all traits are halved, then that'd be fair IMO.

Nature can be a jerk because she provides them both with their strengths but their weaknesses are still there. Most of the time, not all their strengths are there. Like, both weaknesses are there and only one of the strengths will up. And that really depends on the person as well. . .

I just want to let you guys that I am paying attention to what is being said in this thread! I'm currently on my phone. My answers will be brief, but I will provide a more appropriate answer when I am home.

@ VICKI : The short answer is: yes. The long answer is yes, but there are multiple caveats. Honestly speaking, I am unlikely to allow it. It doesn't matter to me how detailed the weaknesses and strengths are because, more than balance, I give heavier consideration to the world/environment. The lore for this game is vast and the pacts of the world's history runs deep. I'll offer a better explanation when I am home and not on my phone. Having said this, you aren't barred from applying with a mixed character. You are welcome to submit any and all ideas, but I reserve the right to reject ideas I find incompatible with the game's design.

While we're here asking about the RP I thought of a few points;

1. Will some classes be better than others or will everything be different but equal overall?
2. Will the races be very visually distinguishable from one another or could - say - an elf pretend to be human by hiding its ears with a cloak?
3. Where does technology stand? Typical medieval or ______?
